Rock Sweep: April 25, 2015...


Round two of this week's "chart sweeps" is up, checking out the songs making the latest charts in Billboard magazine, and this time out it's the newest songs on rock radio...

On the main Rock Airplay chart, Mumford & Sons are on top for a second week with "Believe"...

Leaping in halfway up the chart at #24 and scoring my "Rock Pick of the Week" is modern metal duo Twenty One Pilots with "Tear In My Heart". In 2013 their single "House Of Gold" climbed to #18...

London-based alt-rock band Wolf Alice land their first hit as "Moaning Lisa Smile" is in at #41...


Another track from the upcoming Mumford & Sons album, "The Wolf", enters one notch under Wolf Alice at #42...


Hard rock supergroup We Are Harlot shimmies in at #50 with "Dancin' On Nails". The song also moves up to #15 on the Mainstream Rock list in its tenth week...


And now on to the rock radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, the Offspring climb to #1 with "Coming For You". It's their second to top this chart. Their first, "Gone Away", reigned eighteen years ago in 1997...

Progressive blues-rock band Highly Suspect debut at #33 with their breakthrough hit "Lydia"...


Vegas post-hardcore group Falling In Reverse backs in at #34 with "God, If You Are Above..."...


Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, Mumford & Sons reign for a second week with "Believe", while the aforementioned Twenty-One Pilots and Wolf Alice tracks enter at #22 and #32, respectively...

Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, "Believe" is on top for a third week....

Los Angeles indie-rock band Saint Motel cross over to this list with their top-20 alternative hit "My Type"...


The Decemberists follow up their #1 AAA hit "Make You Better" with the song at #27, "The Wrong Year"...


British indie-rockers Scars On 45 are in at #30 with the fourth single from their second album, "Take You Home". The first, "Give Me Something", went to #3...
