Songoftheday 5/4/14 - Now while we're here alone and all is said and done, now I can let you know because of all you've shown...
Kenny Loggins - "Forever"
from the album Vox Humana (1985)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #40 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 1
Today's Song of the Day comes from singer/songwriter Kenny Loggins, who followed up his big Footloose success with the Vox Humana album, with the title track reaching the top-40 on the pop chart. He also participated in the #1 charity record "We Are The World" by USA for Africa. His next single would be a grand power ballad written and produced by the artist with soft-rock king David Foster, and would be heard on the radio as well as on the soap opera The Young And The Restless...
"Forever" was a big hit on the adult-contemporary chart, peaking at #5, while slipping in to the top-40 on the pop list in America for a week in July of 1985. It remains one of the best bombastic ballads of the decade.
