Songoftheday 5/11/14 - The old man said to me said "Don't always take life so seriously play the flute and dance and sing your song"...
Howard Jones - "Life In One Day"
from the album Dream Into Action (1985)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #19 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 8
Today's Song of the Day is by British new wave musician Howard Jones, who was one of the few big solo acts of the genre in the 80s, if not the biggest. His second album Dream Into Action had already scored Jones a top-5 pop hit in American with "Things Can Only Get Better". He followed that up with the inspirational "Life In One Day", written by the artist and produced by Rupert Hine (the Fixx). Don't adjust your sets, the video directed by Godley & Creme was edited all sorts of crazy-like...
"Life In One Day" became Howard's fourth top-40 pop hit in September of 1985, while reaching #36 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock radio chart. Internationally, the single made it to #14 in Jones' native England, while reaching the top-40 in Italy and Australia.
