Brit Sweep: May 11, 2014...


Hey folks, the end of the weekend is upon us, and it's time to check out the songs making their debut on the just-released official sales chart in Britain this week, as Mr. Probz climbs back to #1 for a second non-consecutive week with "Waves"...

The top debut of the week at #6 is Mr. Worldwide, Pitbull, with another one of his soon-to-be-forgotten club jams "Wild Wild Love" featuring GRL (a knockoff Pussycat Girls). Pitbul started the year in this country at #1 with "Timber"...

British singer Louisa Allen, AKA Foxes, places a third single from her debut album Glorious, "Holding Onto Heaven", at #14. It follows "Let Go For Tonight", which came in at #7 earlier this year...


Indie-pop "boy-band" Loveable Rogues, who came in fourth on Britain's Got Talent, arrive at #58 with their second hit "Honest". Last year they took "What A Night" all the way to #9...


A charity novelty single, "Put That Hoedown", by members of the Essex Young Farmers agricultural club, benefits mental health promoters, comes in at #60...


Take That lead singer Gary Barlow returns at #65 with the title track to his latest solo album "Since I Saw You Last", my "Brit Pick of the Week".  The first single from the project, "Let me Go", peaked at #2 last year...


Newcomer Harvey debuts at #73 with "Thank You"...


The title track to X Factor UK winners Little Mix's second album, "Salute", waves in at #74...


American hard rock band Linkin Park are back at #78 with "Until It's Gone" from their upcoming The Hunting Party album...


Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott, previously singers in the British indie band Beautiful South, land their first duet hit with "D.I.Y." at #83...


 The final entry of the week is the second Eurovision entry to reach the UK chart - the country's own Molly's "Children Of The Universe" jumps up to #33, while the Netherlands entry "Calm Before The Storm", by the Common Linnets, moves in at #95. This song came in second in the voting behind Conchita Wurst's "Rise Like A Phoenix", which I'm sure will make next week's chart...
