Brit Sweep: November 3, 2013...

The end of the weekend is upon us, and time to check out the just-released official singles sales chart in Britain this week to see what's new and fresh-like...

The fourth preview track from rapper Eminem's upcoming Marshall Mathers 2 album is the first one to make it to the top, as "Monster", featuring Rihanna, is the top-selling song of the week. It's his eighth single to go to #1, starting with "The Real Slim Shady" back in 2000 and most recently as a featured artist on Akon's "Smack That" in 2006. This is Rihanna's eighth appearance at #1, from "Umbrella" in 2007 until "Diamonds" last year...

English DJ, musician, and producer Fatboy Slim (aka Norman Cook) places at #3 with "Eat Sleep Rave Repeat", featuring fellow spinner Riva Starr and vocals from beatboxer Beardyman. It's his seventh top-10 hit and first in twelve years. "Slim" topped the chart back in 1999 with "Praise You"..

Amazingly, both Eminem and Fatboy Slim (with last week holdover Lorde) beat out the new one from One Direction, as the second single from their upcoming Midnight Memories, "Story Of My Life", is in at #4. It follows "Best Song Ever", which came in at #2...

London rapper Tinie Tempah is back at #6 with "Children Of The Sun", the second single from his second album Demonstration, and my "Brit Pick of the Week". The record, his tenth appearance in the top ten in this country, features vocals from  John Martin, who sang on the Swedish House Mafia's #1 "Don't You Worry Child". This follows "Trampoline", which came in at #3 earlier this year...

The fifth entry in the top-10 at #8 belongs to the Wanted, with the fifth single (and fifth top ten) from their third album Word Of Mouth, which is being released in the UK tomorrow. The first, "Chasing The Sun", went to #2 last year. This is their tenth top-10 hit (one more than 1D by the way). The new one, "Show Me Love (America)", was a recent top-10 airplay hit..

British singer Foxes (real name Louisa Allen) debuts with her first single as a lead artist, "Youth".  She has already provided vocals for two top-40 hits in the UK, including the worldwide hit "Clarity" by Zedd..

The fourth one-off single from Justin Bieber, "Recovery", enters at #28. It matches the rank of last week's "Hold Tight", which drops completely out of the top-100...

Boyband M.A.D. are in at #37 with their first single "ToyBoy"...

Alternative rock giant Lou Reed sadly passed last week from liver disease, and two of his most remembered songs are back on the charts. While his biggest American hit "Walk On The Wild Side" (which peaked in the UK at #10 in 1973) is back at #53, another track from his Transformer album, "Perfect Day", makes its first appearance at #45. Lou did sing on a multi-artist charity cover of the song that topped the British singles chart in 1997...

Canadian punk girl Avril Lavigne returns at #68 with "Rock N Roll", her followup to "Here's To Never Growing Up", which went to #14 earlier in the year...

The fourth single from Fall Out Boy's Save Rock And Roll album, "Young Volcanos", enters at #77. The lead track, "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark", went to #5 a few months ago..

The final debut of the week at #97 is Bruno Mars with "Gorilla", the fourth release from his Unorthodox Jukebox album. The first two, "Locked Out Of Heaven" and "When I Was Your Man", both went to #2..

That's it for tonight...I'll be back tomorrow with another Song of the Day, part two of this week's "album sweep", and my "robbed hit" of the week. Cheers!
