Brit Sweep: November 10, 2013...


Hey gang, it's the end of the "weekend" (though an extended one for some) and time to check out the song reaching the just-released official sales chart in Britain this week...

The top-selling song in the UK is the first for Morgan Heist, from Wayne, New Jersey, who records under the name Storm Queen, with his first single, "Look Right Through"...

British X Factor winners Little Mix are in at #3 with "Move", the first release from their upcoming sophomore album Salute. It's their fourth top-ten single, with their first two ("Cannonball" and "Wings") topping the chart...


Britney Spears makes her way in at #7 with "Work B!tch". It's her 23rd song to reach the top ten; six of them have made it to #1 (the last being "Scream & Shout" with will.i.am)...


Singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran returns at #13 with his contribution to the soundtrack to The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug, "I See Fire". Ed has racked up six top-ten hits (two as a featured artist), with his first, "The A Team", so far his biggest at #3 in 2011..


BRIT school singer/songwriter Katy B is also back at #14 with "5 AM", the second single from her upcoming second effort, Little Red. The first, "What Love Is Made Of", went to #21 earlier this year..


Taylor Swift teams up with Gary Lightbody, the lead singer of Snow Patrol, for the eighth song from her Red album to make this country's top 100, "The Last Time", at #25. Out of them all, "I Knew You Were Trouble" went the highest at #2 earlier this year...


The fifth song in Justin Bieber's "Music Mondays" promotion, "Bad Day", make its entrance at #31...


British drum and bass act Rudimental enlist Scottish singer Emeli Sande for their fifth single from their excellent Home album, "Free", my "Brit Pick of the Week", at #44. Two of that albums' releases, "Feel The Love" and "Waiting All Night", topped the UK charts...


Former Westlife lead singer Shane Filan comes in at #54 with his second solo single, "About You". It follows "Everything To Me", which went in at #14...


Australian singer/songwriter Ry Cuming debuts at #56 with "Berlin", under the moniker Ry X...


Surprisingly, the first of the Pet Shop Boys' singles from their awesome Electric set to make the top 100 in their native England is their fourth, "Thursday", featuring Example,  at #61. The duo went to #1 four times in the 80s...


Canadian rocker Avril Lavigne and her husband Chad Kroeger from Nickelback enter at #66 with "Let Me Go", her third from her self-titled album. The first, "Here's To Never Growing Up", went to #14 earlier this year..


Eminem's Marshall Mathers 2 album is the top-selling record in the UK this week, and two more of its tracks sell enough on their own to make the singles chart. First at #67 is "Beautiful Pain" with Sia. After the out bisexual singer/songwriter found out about "Slim Shady"'s return to homophobic lyrics on "Rap God", she is donating her royalites of this song to benefit homeless youth at the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center...


Newcomer George Ezra debuts at #72 with "Budapest"...


Celine Dion is back at #75 with "Loved Me Back To Life", her first song to make the top 100 in five years. She's topped the UK charts four times, the last being "I'm Your Angel" with R. Kelly in 1998...


British metalcore band Enter Shikari arrive at #77 with "Rat Race". They have accrued two top-40 singles here, with "Anything Can Happen In The Next Half Hour..." their biggest hit at #27 in 2007...


Bombay Bicycle Club, a folk-rock group from London, ride in at #81 with "Carry Me". In 2010 they went to #56 with "Ivy & Gold"...


Rapper Tinie Tempah, whose second album Demonstration arrives at #3 this week in Britain, places a track from the set "Someday" featuring Ella Eyre at #87....


London indie-rock singer/songwriter Luke Sital-Singh debuts at #88 with his first hit, "Nothing Stays The Same"...


The other songs from Eminem's Marshall Mathers 2 to debut here at #94 is "Love Game" featuring Kendrick Lamar...


Last season X Factor winner James Arthur's self-titled debut album logs in at #2, and from it "Get Down" is the final new entry of the week...
