Songoftheday 1/15/13 - Took a look down a westbound road right away I made my choice, headed out to my big two-wheeler I was tired of my own voice...

Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - "Roll Me Away"
from the album The Distance (1982)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #27 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 6

Today's Song of the Day is by Detroit rockers Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band, who started out 1983 with two big top-40 hits with his cover of Rodney Crowell's "Shame On The Moon" and the followup "Even Now". For their third single from their Distance album, they released the epic "Roll Me Away" which was much more grandiose than the two preceding singles, and as such was featured in three big movies, Mask, Reckless, and the more recent Armageddon...

"Roll Me Away" became the band's third top-40 pop hit from the set, and reached #13 on the rock radio chart as well.
