"Rotation" was a club and radio hit for trumpeter/producer/studio head Herb Alpert. Appearing on his album Rise, the song was written by Herb's nephew Randy Alpert and Andy Armer, and produced by the Alperts. On Billboard magazine's Disco Top 100 chart, the single peaked at #45 in 1980, while reaching #30 on the pop Hot 100 and #20 on their R&B Singles chart.
