"Josephine Superstar" was a club hit for actress and singer Phylicia Allen. The title track of a concept album that's a tribute to the iconic entertainer, the song was written by Allen with then-husband Oliver Willis of the Village People, and produced by that group's svengali Jacques Morali. On Billboard magazine's National Disco Action Top-40 chart, the entire Josephine Superstar album was listed with "all cuts" marked as DJ favorites. The record peaked at #28 in 1978.
