Today's Song of the Day comes from Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band, whose 1986 album Like A Rock had scored them a top-20 pop hit with "American Storm". For the second single they released the title track, written by Seger about the end of a long-term relationship, but "Like A Rock" is much more recognized for its use in the Chevrolet truck commercials, one of the first big rock endorsements in the automotive industry...

"Like A Rock" was the second top-20 pop hit from the album in July of 1986. The song became Seger's first #1 Mainstream Rock radio hit, and climbed to #21 on the adult-contemporary chart in Billboard magazine. In Canada, "Like A Rock" was a top-40 hit at #33....
