Today's Song of the Day is by the funk and disco group Kool & The Gang, who we last saw with their 1983 album In The Heart, which softened their sound and scored them a #2 hit with "Joanna" and a top-20 follow-up with "Tonight". Their next album, Emergency, would prove to be their biggest pop success in the 80s, and the first single from the set, "Misled" (written by the band and co-produced with Jim Bonneford), would be one of their best of the decade...

"Misled" became Kool & The Gang's eighth top-ten pop hit in America in March of 1985, while going all the way to #3 on the R&B chart and #9 on Billboard's Dance Club Play list. Internationally, the record made the top ten in Australia as a double-sided hit with "Fresh" at #8, while in Britain, where the band had been doing well, it was a moderate hit at #28, and in Germany, it just missed the top-40 at #46.
