Rock Sweep: January 25, 2014...
Round two of today's "chart sweeps" is up with the latest rock songs to reach the radio charts in Billboard magazine...
On the main Rock Airplay chart, Cage The Elephant hangs tight for a tenth week on top with "Come A Little Closer"....
The top debut at #40 is from the Silversun Pickups, who preview their upcoming Singles Collection with "Cannibal", my "Rock Pick of the Week". Back in 2009 they went to #4 with "Panic Switch"...

The Fray come in at #46 with "Love Don't Die". The record is already in the top-10 on Triple-A radio. Four years ago they went to #26 here with a cover of Kanye West's "Heartless"..
The third of the trio of entries at #47 sees the return of modern rock group Neon Trees with "Sleeping With A Friend". Four years prior the band went to #2 with "Animal"...
And now on to the individual rock radio format sub-charts...
On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, Stone Sour leaps to #1 with "Tired", making it their third chart-topped after "Through Glass" and "Say You'll Haunt Me"....
The sole debut at #40 is British metalcore band Bring Me The Horizon with "Sleepwalking". It follows "Go To Hell, For Heaven's Sake", which went to #22 last year...
Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, the aforementioned "Come A Little Closer" also spends a tenth week at the top, while the Silversun Pickups rocket in at #25...
Newcomers Basic Vacation debut at #36 with "I Believe"...
British modern rock band Bastille follow up their #1 single "Pompeii" (which still sits at #3) with "Bad Blood" at #37...
Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, Bastille reigns for a third week with "Pompeii"...
The sole debut at #29 is "Turn It Around" from New Yorker indie-pop band Lucius. I have their debut album, it's pretty great...
That's all for the rock realm...I'll return in an hour and a half with the newest R&B songs on the radio. Rock on!
