Soul Sweep: August 31, 2013...

We're at the "hump" of this week's belated "chart sweeps" checking out the latest songs reaching the radio charts in Billboard magazine, and now I've got the newest on R&B radio...

On the main R&B/HipHop Airplay chart, Robin Thicke hangs in for a fifth week at #1 with "Blurred Lines" with T.I. and Pharrell Williams...

The only new song on the chart at #48 is Sevyn Streeter with her first hit, "It Won't Stop"...

Meanwhile, on the older-skewing Adult R&B radio panel, "Blurred Lines" also stays on top for a third week...

Arriving at #32 is former teen R&B star and ironically part of the vocal group Immature Marques Houston with "Give Your Love A Try". The singer is also 32 years old now, and this is my "Soul Pick of the Week"...

...and right behind that at #33 proving the format's maleability is rapper LL Cool J with "Something About You (Love The World)" with Charlie Wilson (formerly from the Gap Band and now an soul star), Earth Wind & Fire, and Melody Thornton of the Pussycat Dolls....

That's it for this week's soul adventure...I'll be back with the newest on country radio. Groove on!
