Rock Sweep: August 10, 2013...

Time for round two of today's "chart sweeps" where I sample the songs reaching the radio charts in Billboard magazine this week. This time out I've serving the latest on rock radio...

On the all-inclusive Rock Airplay chart, there's no change as Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive" remains on top for an amazing 22nd week...

The sole debut on this rather quiet chart at #49 is hard rock group Papa Roach with the second single from their Connection album, "Leader Of The Broken Hearts". The song also moves up to #19 on the mainstream rock format...

...and now on to the rock radio format charts....

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, Five Finger Death Punch claim their second #1 hit with "Lift Me Up" featuring Rob Halford of Judas Priest. They had topped the list last year with "Coming Down"...

Stone Sour return at #35 with "Tired", the third single from the first part of their House Of Gold & Bones double-release. They went to #2 with "Absolute Zero" from the set as well...

The other entry at #39 is Tennessee family band Kings Of Leon with "Supersoaker", which is already at #17 on the alternative rock chart...

Meanwhile, on the Modern Rock/Alternative format, The Neighbourhood hold for a tenth week on top with "Sweater Weather". Is the summer reign of this title wishful thinking?

The big debut of the week at #32 marks the return of Vegas modern rock act Panic! At The Disco with "Miss Jackson". They went to their highest so far with their first charting single, 2005's "The Only DIfference Between Martyrdom and Suicide is Press Coverage" (they've certainly reined in their song title length since then). It's this week's "Rock Pick of the Week", and featured soul singer Lauren Pritchard (billed as "Lolo")...

Also coming in at #38 is Canadian indie-rock band Said The Whale with "I Love You". They took this record to #3 on the same chart in their own country...

At the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") chart, Frank Turner stays at #1 for a second week with "Recovery"...

Entering at #28 is Vampire Weekend, who while they climb the other formats with "Diane Young", are getting played by these stations with "Unbelievers"...

The other new song at #29 is Philly singer/songwriter Amos Lee with a track from his upcoming album, "The Man Who Wants You"....

On the harder-edged Active Rock radio panel, the aforementioned Five Finger Death Punch's "Lift Me Up" rules for a second week, and Kings Of Leon have the top entry at #37 with "Supersoaker".

The other new track at #39 is Memphis hard rock outfit Saliva with "In It To Win It". The band topped the alternative chart in 2002 with "Always"...

Finally, on the older-skewing Heritage Rock format, Shinedown climb back into the top spot for a ninth non-consecutive week with "I'll Follow You"...

The only new entry at #25 is industrial rock act Filter with "What Do You Say", which is in the top-20 on the mainstream rock chart...

That's it for this week's rock blast....I'll be back in an hour and a half with the latest on R&B radio. Rock on!
