Songoftheday 11/20/14 - You said the devil told you that another mount will appear everytime somebody broken your heart...

Prince & The Revolution - "Mountains"
from the album Parade (Music from Under The Cherry Moon) (1986)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #23 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 6

Today's Song of the Day is by Prince, who's second foray into the movies Under The Cherry Moon had returned him to #1 on the American pop chart with "Kiss". The follow-up track, "Mountains", harkened back to his psychedelic work on his last album, Around The World In A Day. Now of course, he's still got his team of lawyers tracking any YouTube presence, and refuses to have his own channel, and now even his MySpace music page links this song to a "review clip", so f it. In the words of Steve Albini,

Well anyway, if you want to watch a bad copy of the clip, click on here....

FINALLY the Prince estate is starting to roll out official videos on YouTube. Halleujah!

"Mountains" became the second top-40 hit from the film in July of 1985. The song also crossed over to #15 on the R&B and #11 on the Dance chart in Billboard magazine. Internationally, while the record went top-20 in the Netherlands and Ireland, and top-40 in Germany and New Zealand, it stalled at #45 in England.

All in all, it's one of my more liked of his psychedelic tracks, so it's a shame I can't post it here.

Up tomorrow: the Glimmer Twins get punched in the gut.
