Rock Sweep: December 6, 2014...






Round two of this week's "chart sweeps" is up, with the latest hits on rock radio as monitored by Billboard magazine.

On their main Rock Airplay chart, the Foo Fighters spend a fifth week at #1 with "Something From Nothing"...

The top entry at #46 comes from "moombahton" artist Robert Delong with "Long Way Down". The track, this week's "Rock Pick of the Week", also climbs from #33 to #27 on the Modern Rock chart...

Brooklyn indie-rockers TV On The Radio beam in at #48 with "Happy Idiot". The song is up to #31 on Modern Rock and holds at #20 on the Triple-A list...


Hard rock band Papa Roach return at #49 with "Face Everything And Rise", which jumps to #16 on the Mainstream Rock chart. They've had three top-10 hits here, with "Lifeline" going to #5 in 2009...


British trip-hop act Glass Animals enter at #50 with "Gooey", which climbs to #28 on the Modern Rock list...


...and now on to the rock radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel "Something From Nothing" is on top for a fifth week...

Actress Taylor Momsen's rock project, The Pretty Reckless, follow up two #1 hits on this chart ("Heaven Knows" and "Messed Up World") with "Follow Me Down" at #31...


Modern rock vets the Smashing Pumpkins are back at #34 with "One And All", the first single from their upcoming Monuments Of An Elegy to make the chart. The band, led by Billy Corgan, topped this format in 1996 with "1979"...


California metalcore group Of Mice & Men drop in at #35 with "Feels Like Forever". It's the second single from their Restoring Force album. The first, "Would You Still Be There", peaked at #18...


Canadian bro-rock kings Nickelback follow up their #1 comeback "Edge Of A Revolution" with "Million Miles An Hour", which drives in at #36...


San Franciscan metal outfit Letters From The Fire debut at #37 with "Zombies (In The Sun)"...


British alt-rock band Arctic Monkeys climb on to this chart at #38 with "R U Mine?". The track is #12 on the Alternative rock list. Their "Do I Wanna Know" made it up to #12 on this format...


Midwestern metal act 3 Years Hollow team up with Sevendust guitarist Clint Lowery for their first hit at #39, "For Life"...


Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart,  the Foo Fighters score their tenth #1 hit with "Something From Nothing". Their first, "Learn To Fly", came back in 1999...

Reggae rock band Dirty Heads follow up their #3 hit "My Sweet Summer" with the title track to their album Sound Of Change, which is in at #33...


Alt-hip-hop artist Yelawolf runs in at #39 with "Till It's Gone". It's his first on a rock radio chart...


Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") radio, British indie-folk singer/songwriter George Ezra lands his first American #1 with "Budapest"..

The folk-rock collaborative "supergroup" the New Basement Tapes, put together by producer T Bone Burnett to finish and record music that Bob Dylan's newly found lyrics would find a home in, place at #24 with "Kansas City". The band features Elvis Costello, Mark Mumford, and Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, the latter two who co-wrote the music...


Pop/rock hitmakers OneRepublic walk in at #28 with "I Lived", the fourth single from their Native album to make this chart. They peaked at #4 with "Counting Stars"...


Alternative rock vets Guster return at #30 with "Simple Machine". Back in 2010 they went to #9 with "Do You Love Me?"...
