Brit Sweep: November 23, 2014...

The end of the weekend is here, and it's time to check out the songs making their debut on the just-released official singles chart in the UK this week, as three huge and deserving song vied for the top spot....

But there was no stopping the juggernaut that is Band Aid, as the 30th anniversary of the first "Do They Know It's Christmas?" single arrives, and Bob Geldof assembled yet another collection of artists such as Sam Smith, One Direction, Ellie Goulding, and more, with Bono along for the ride for the fourth time. The single sold over 300,000 copies in Britain, and proceeds are being directed to the effort to stop the ebola outbreak in Africa this time out. Lyrics were altered to reflect the new direction. Natch, it's my "Brit Pick of the Week", go and buy a copy, right?
