Songoftheday 1/8/14 - Lipstick and lashes the traces of stardom, lit up on a billboard so everyone sees them...

Elton John - "In Neon"
from the album Breaking Hearts (1984)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #38 (three weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 3

Today's Song of the Day is by superstar piano-man of the 70s, Elton John, whose Breaking Heart album had already produced two top-40 hits in 1984 with "Sad Songs (Say So Much)" and "Who Wears These Shoes/". The next year the man born Reginald Dwight released the third single from the set, the waltz "In Neon", written by the artist with long-time collaborator Bernie Taupin and produced by Chris Thomas..

"In Neon" went into the American top-40 in January of 1985, while almost making the top-ten on the adult-contemporary radio chart in Billboard at #11. It's my favorite track from the somewhat twee album.
