Soul Sweep: August 10, 2013...

We're at the "hump" of this week's five-part "chart sweeps" of the new songs making the charts in Billboard magazine, and this time I'm up to the latest on R&B radio...

On the main R&B/Hiphop Airplay chart, Robin Thicke cruises to a second week at #1 with  "Blurred Lines"...

The top entry at #37 is Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj with their totally well-adjusted "Love More". As a lead artist he topped the R&B chart four times...

Rapper Big Sean returns at #44 with "Beware" featuring Lil' Wayne and Jhene Aiko. In 2011 Sean topped the list with "Marvin & Chardonnay", and a year later had a main billing on "Mercy"...(NSFW)

While Jay Z climbs to #24 with the title track from his Magna Carta Holy Grail album, he name-checks himself to #47 with "Tom Ford". It this progress if this N-word riddled song celebrates a gay man? .(NSFW)

 The last debut at #48 is pop smash "Get Lucky" by Daft Punk with Pharrell Williams...

Meanwhile, over on the older-skewing Adult R&B radio panel, Alicia Keys and Maxwell are on top for a seventh non-consecutive week with "Fire We Make", and there are no new songs on the chart...

Sorry nothing warrants a "soul pick" this week, (I couldn't give to Daft Punk in good conscience)...
