Brit Sweep: August 29, 2013...






Well, my catch-up continues as I'm back with what normally would be Sunday's British music chart recap, as Ellie Goulding sticks around for a second week at #1 with "Burn"...

The top entry on the chart at #3 is Austrian dance music group Klang Karussell ("Sound Carousel"), whose international hit "Sonnentanz" ("Sundance"), which went top 10 all over Europe, gets English lyrics sung by Londoner Will Heard and subtitled "Sun Don't Shine" ....

Right under there at #4 is English DJ Fresh with American spinner Diplo and singer Dominique Young on "Earthquake". The man born Daniel Stein has topped the UK chart twice before with "Louder" and "Hot Right Now"...


Coming in at #7 is the seventh lead-artist top-10 hit for Jamaican dancehall artist Sean Paul with "Other Side Of Love". Besides those, he also topped this chart twice as a featured performer on Blu Cantrell's "Breathe" in 2003 and ten years later on the Saturdays' "What About Us"...


And at #8 is Shahid Khan, who records under the moniker Naughty Boy, with his fourth top-10 hit as a lead artist out of four tries with "Lifted" featuring Emeli Sande'. It follows his first #1 single "La La La"....


British X Factor winner Matt Cardle teams up with Spice Girl Melanie C on the excellent "Loving You", his first release on his own label, and my "Brit Pick of the Week". Back in 2010 he went to #1 with his "winner's song" "When We Collide"...



The next entry doesn't come until under the top-40, as Chris Brown is in at #48 with "Love More" featuring Nicki Minaj...



American ingenue Ariana Grande debuts at #49 with her second hit "Almost Is Never Enough" from the boyband The Wanted. It's from the movie The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones...


English singer Tich (real name Rachel Furner) follows up her top-40 hit "Dumb" with "Obsession" which saunters in at #56...


Exceptional British rapper Dizzee Rascal drives in at #69 with "I Don't Need A Reason", from his upcoming The Fifth set. It comes after his #5 his "Goin' Crazy" with Robbie Williams...


Country crossover hits on the British chart are rare, but Florida Georgia Line take their Nelly-fied remix of "Cruise" on the chart here at #75...


Rapper A$AP Rocky comes in at #80 with "Fashion Killa", the fourth single from his debut full-length Long.Live.ASAP. The third, "Wild For The Night" with Skrillex, topped out at #43..


Fall Out Boy also return at #90 with "Alone Together", the third single from their Save Rock & Roll album. The first, "My Songs Know What What You Did In The Dark", went to #5 here earlier this year...


The final entry on the top-100 at #100 is Irish rock group Kodaline with their fourth charting hit "Brand New Day". Earlier in the year "High Hopes" made it to #16...
