Songoftheday 5/11/13 - I've been lost inside empty space in my heart and some things never change...

.38 Special - "If I'd Been The One"
from the album Tour de Force (1984)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #19 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 9

Today's Song of the Day is by the Southern pop-rock group .38 Special, who had their biggest success in 1982 with both a top-10 album (Special Forces) and single ("Caught Up In You") as well as a top-40 followup ("You Keep Runnin' Away") that was big on rock radio.

Two years down the road, the band released their sixth studio set Tour De Force, which honed their pop sensibilities and scored another pop hit with the first single "If I'd Be The One"...

The song became .38 Special's second #1 hit on Billboard's Rock chart, while it became their second to reach the top-20 on the pop chart as well...
