Rock Sweep: May 18, 2013...


Hey gang it's time for round two of today's "chart sweeps" sampling the new songs making it on to the weekly music charts in Billboard magazine, and now it's the latest on rock radio...

On the aggregate Rock Airplay chart, Imagine Dragons hang on for a tenth week on top with "Radioactive"...

The big debut at #46 are experimental rock band Deftones with the second single from their Koi No Yokan set, "Swerve City". It's already #19 on the mainstream rock format..

Jumping in at #47 is horror-metal king Rob Zombie with "Dead City Radio And The Gods Of Supertown", which lurks at #17 on the mainstream chart...


The third and last entry at #49 is rapper turned easy-rocker Michael Franti & Spearhead with "I'm Alive (Life Sounds Like)". He also ascends to the top-10 on the Triple-A chart with this one...



And now for the format subcharts...

On the Mainstream Rock list, neo-metal supergroup Device move to #1 with "Vilify"...

Popping in at #37 is Christian-Nu metal group P.O.D. with "Beautiful". It's the third single from their latest Murdered Love album - the first, "Lost In Forever", was their highest-charting song to date at #3...


The other entry at #40 is British neo-prog-rock masters Muse with "Panic Station". It follows "Madness", which went to #36 on this format, while setting a record time at #1 on the modern rock list...


Meanwhile, on the Modern Rock/Alternative chart, Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive" racks up a dozen weeks on top....

The only new song on this list at #36 is British rock group the 1975 from Manchester, with their debut American single "Sex", my "Rock Pick of the Week"...


Over at the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, Serena Ryder spends week #2 at #1 with "Stompa"...

California indie-rockers Airborne Toxic Event take their former top-20 alternative hit "Timeless" here at #29...


Right under that at #30 is Sara Bareilles with "Brave"....


On the harder-skewing Active Rock chart, the aforementioned "Vilify" by Device climbs to the top, while P.O.D.'s "Beautiful" is the high debut at #34...

The other new song at #40 is the Texas Hippie Coalition with "Damn You To Hell"...


Finally, on the older-skewing Heritage Rock list, Shinedown reigns for a second week with "I'll Follow You"..

The only debut on the chart at #25 is Canadian Christian rock group Thousand Foot Krutch with "War Of Change"...
