Pop Sweep: June 1, 2013...

Hey gang, It's time to kick off today's five-part "chart sweeps" of the new songs reaching the singles charts in Billboard magazine, and as always I'll start off with the pop side of things...

On the big chart, Billboard's Hot 100, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis hang on for a third week at #1 with "Can't Hold Us" featuring Ray Dalton....

The top debut of the week belongs to soulful pop singer Bruno Mars, with the third official single from his sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox. "Treasure", which is at at #71, sounds to me mighty similar to the vibe of Michael Jackson's "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)", no?

The second track from the new film version of the classic novel The Great Gatsby by director Baz Luhrmann arrives on the list as "A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got)" by Fergie, Q-Tip, and GoonRock enters at #77. It's the Black Eyed Peas vocalist's first lead-artist credit since 2007's "Clumsy", while Q-Tip's goes back to 1999's "Breathe and Stop", and GoonRock was a featured artist on LMFAO's classic "Party Rock Anthem" in 2011...

In a shocking turn (also with help from Billboard's new skewing of the charts with "streaming" info), newly-crowned American Idol winner Candice Glover manages only a #93 debut with her "winner's" single, "I Am Beautiful". It's the lowest placing for such a song so far, even Lee DeWyze's excreble "Beautiful Day" went to #24....

Right under that is one of the Idol judges, Keith Urban (basically, the "Paula Abdul" of the season), with his new single, "Little Bit Of Everything". He's sent 14 of his country hits to the top-40 on the big chart, with "Kiss A Girl" reaching #16 in 2009 being his highest...

Another singing competition judge, outgoing X Factor mentor Demi Lovato, arrives at #98 with the followup to her top-10 hit "Heart Attack", a collaboration with former British X Factor contestant Cher Lloyd, "Really Don't Care"...

The last debut on the Hot 100 is Kelly Clarkson with the third hit from her first greatest hits collection, "People Like Us", a sort of "mash-up of "Born This Way" and her own "Stronger"...

...and now for the pop radio charts...

On the Mainstream Pop radio chart, Justin Timberlake's "Mirrors" climbs into the top spot for its first week, and the aforementioned "Treasure" is the big entry at #29...

Making its way on the chart at #38 is Maroon 5 with their fourth single from Overexposed, "Love Somebody", my "Pop Pick of the Week"...

The third and last entry here at #40 is Robin Thicke with his new single "Blurred Lines" featuring T.I. and Pharrell Williams...which seems like a rewrite of Marvin Gaye's "Got To Give It Up"...

Meanwhile, over on theolder-skewing Adult Top-40 chart, Pink's "Just Give Me A Reason" holds for a fourth week on top, and Bruno Mars again takes the top debut spot at #35 with "Treasure"...

French neo-disco duo Daft Punk pop in at #36 with their new top-10 Hot 100 hit "Get Lucky" featuring Pharrell Williams...

Another alt-dance group, Passion Pit, score their second Adult-pop hit at #37 with "Carried Away"....

Lastly, on the Adult Contemporary, or "easy listening" format, The Lumineers reign for a fifth week with "Ho Hey"...

The top new song at #27 are Atlanta newcomers The Villains with "(My) Rainy Day Girl".

Taylor Swift's barely-adult "22" makes the AC list at #28...

Somehow finally making it on to the easy-listening list at #29 is Rihanna's winter #1 pop chart-topper "Diamonds"...

and the last debut here of the week at #30 is the Grooveatech Orchestra with "One More Time"...

That's it for the pop side of the house...I'll return in 90 with the newest on rock radio....
