There are eight new songs spending their first week on my list (highlighted in blue), and here they are, and you can also click on the names of the artists in the chart to click to their official website...

(Click below to see the rest of the post)

The highest entry this week is by Australian DJ and singer Havana Brown (real name Angelique Meunier), who renamed herself after a kind of cat, and follows her hit "We Run The Night" (which made the top-40 of my chart) with her #1 dance hit "Big Banana" featuring Moroccan DJ/producer R3Hab (real name Fadil El Ghoul), one of my favorite remixers...

New York alt-rock darlings fun get their third single on my chart with the anthemic "Carry On", as their title track from the album Some Nights still hangs on in the top-20...

Country newcomer Kacey Musgraves appeared first on the competition show Nashville Star six years ago, and new she gets her first hit with the compellingly realistic "Merry Go Round"...

Denver-based folk-rock band Churchill arrive with their debut single, "Change"...

California veterans Train's third single from their California 37 album is "Mermaid". The first two both made the top-40 of my year-end biggest of 2012...

The next entry was the #1 single for Christmas week in Britain last year, the charity remake of "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" by the "Justice Collective", with Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, Mel C of the Spice Girls, Holly Johnson of Frankie Goes To Hollywood, two of the original Hollies, and more. It was released to raise money for the legal fight by the families of those killed in the football stampede/collapse/crushing tragedy in England in 1989 to exonerate their name. I love this version, though the choice of song is like the worst pun ever to remember deaths by crushing...

Rihanna's followup to her Sia-penned hit "Diamonds" (still in my top-20) is the ballad "Stay" featuring Louisiana singer Mikky Ekko...

The final debut this week is by rapper Kendrick Lamar, with his first hit "Swimming Pools (Drank)"...

That does it for today...I'll be back tomorrow with another Song of the Day, Candletime, and this week's five-part "chart sweeps" of the latest music making the Billboard charts. Good night!
