Today's Song of the Day is by Singer/actress Olivia Newton-John, whose second compilation of singles had already produced a big top-3 hit with "Heart Attack" at the end of 1982. For the follow-up, Olivia released "Tied Up", another song written and produced by long-time collaborator John Farrar...

Although "Tied Up" was ten times better than "Heart Attack", it managed only to get into the lower rungs of the top-40 for a few weeks. It was also a minor hit in Canada and Australia, and it remains my favorite Olivia song (the chorus gets me everytime)...

Stevie Nicks also recorded a version that never made an album, with a more rougher and rock-tinged take on it...

Co-writer Lee Ritenour also released a version of the song on his 1982 Rit/2 set...

Also, fellow blogger Dan over at This Man's World also takes a peek at the song..I agree with him about the Stevie track for sure, though Ritenour's is pretty smooth...
