Songoftheday 11/16/12 - Where were you when I needed you, you could not be found....

The Greg Kihn Band - "Jeopardy"
from the album Kihnspiracy (1983)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #2 (one week)
Weeks in the top-40: 14

Today's Song of the Day is by Bay Area rocker Greg Kihn, who moved from Baltimore to San Francisco in his twenties. He released his self-titled first album in 1975, but it wasn't until 1981 when he got his big "break" with "The Break-Up Song (They Don't Write 'Em Like That Anymore)", which made the top-20 on the pop chart and #5 on the rock radio list.

In 1983, Kihn put out Kihnspiracy, his ninth studio album, and the first single, "Jeopardy", brought Kihn back to top-40 radio...

"Jeopardy" was Kihn's biggest hit of his career, peaking at #2 on the pop chart, and #5 on the rock radio chart. Proving his crossover appeal, the single managed to top the US dance chart, as well as land at a respectable #48 on the R&B chart.

The following year, Kihn received an even biggest form of success when "Weird Al" Yankovic parodied the song and had a minor pop hit with the single, peaking at #81..

In 1983, Italo-disco novelty act Pink Project sampled this (and other songs) on "B-Project"..

Up Tomorrow: Ms. Andrzejewski is a tad tardy.
