Pop Sweep: December 1, 2012...


Hey gang, it's time for today's four (usually five) part "chart sweep" of the latest songs making their way on to the weekly music charts in Billboard magazine. This time out it's the latest on and pop charts...

On the Big Chart, the Hot 100, Rihanna ends Maroon 5's grasp on the charts with "Diamonds". It's her 12th chart-topping hit on this list, tying her with Madonna...

The top debut this week belongs to British boyband heartthrobs One Direction, who come in just below the top-40 at #41 with "Little Things". Written by fellow countryman Ed Sheeran, it's the most unique and nicest thing they've recorded as yet...

Leaping in at #67 is "A Thousand Years (Part 2)" by Christina Perri featuring Steve Kazee. It's the "sequel" to her #31 hit from last year from Twilight-Breaking Dawn Part 1. This new one is from Part 2, which opened this weekend...


Christina Aguilera is back at #92 with "Just A Fool", featuring her colleague on The Voice, Blake Shelton. It's the second single from her latest album, Lotus - the first, "Your Body", went to #34 this fall....


The boys at One Direction also put another song from their #1 album Take Me Home at #95, "Kiss You"...


The last debut on the big chart is rapper 2 Chainz at #98 with "I'm Different". It's the fourth song to chart from his debut album Based On A T.R.U. Story; "No Lie" made it to #24 earlier this year...


Meanwhile, over on the Adult Top-40 radio format chart,  Maroon 5 manage to hang on for a fifth non-consecutive week with "One More Night"...

The top entry on this list is Ne-Yo's top-10 pop hit "Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love Yourself)" at #33.  So far his highest rank here has been a featured role on Pitbull's "Give Me Everything" at #19...


Alt-rockers Neon Trees pop in at #38 with "Lessons In Love (All Day, All Night)" featuring EDM artist Kaskade. It follows "Everybody Talks", which went to #1 on this chart earlier this year...


Vicci Martinez, who came in third on the first season of The Voice, comes in at #40 with "Come Along", featuring her mentor Cee-Lo Green...


Finally, over on the Adult Contemporary chart , Gotye and Kimbra won't let go of #1 for an amazing sixteenth week with "Somebody That I Used To Know"...

All six of this week's entries on this chart are Christmas songs, signifying their yearly shift to holiday music...

At #18 is Rod Stewart in his rendition of "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow"...


Coming in at #22 is Barry Manilow with "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town"...


Bay Area rockers Train sleigh in at #23 with "Joy To The World". It's from the new Very Special Christmas but there's no video yet...

One rung under that at #24 is the orchestral rock of Trans-Siberian Orchestra with "Fireflies"...


American Idol winner Jordin Sparks arrives at #25 with "Do You Hear What I Hear"...


The last debut is by country crossover trio Lady Antebellum, with "A Holly Jolly Christmas"...
