twostepcub's music chart for January 21, 2022...

Friday's here, and it's time to run down my top 100 "hit" tunes from the previous week. Adele won't let go to the #1 spot for an eighth week, while Chris Stapleton (pictured above) leaps into the top five. Songs from Gayle, Years & Years/Galantis, and Eric Church make the biggest jumps (moves of 10+ places highlighted in red), while former big hits from Kenny Chesney and Imagine Dragons drop out. And under the list everything is Spotify playlisted for five and a half hours of the biggest in pop, rock, R&B, country and dance music. A certain pair of senators have got to go...

Along with a reentry by Meduza and Hozier, there are just three songs making their debut on my chart this week (highlighted in blue), and if you click on any of them, you'll connect to that artist's official website for more information like tour dates, pictures, and music. And here they are on video, after the break...

Country singers Carly Pearce and Ashley McBride join forces for the top debut of the week at #84. "Never Wanted To Be That Girl", from Pearce's great album 29: Written In Stone, has the pair on opposite ends of a cheating husband's love, with neither knowing until then.

The Foo Fighters return at #91 with the fourth song from their Medicine At Midnight album to make my chart, "Love Dies Young". The other three - "Shame Shame", "Waiting For A War", and "Making A Fire", all made my year-end countdown for 2021...

The final newbie of the week belongs to R&B veteran Mary J. Blige, who slips in at #100 with the title track to her upcoming fourth studio album "Good Morning Gorgeous"...
