"Bring It All To Me" - Blaque featuring NSYNC
from the album Blaque (1999)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #5 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 24

Today's song comes from the R&B trio Blaque, who landed a top ten pop and R&B hit on their first try with "808" in the summer of 1999.  For their follow-up, the group released the midtempo jam "Bring It All To Me". Though its official listing features the boy-band NSYNC, which was also climbing the charts with a collaboration with Gloria Estefan on "Music Of My Heart", it was only JC Chasez from the act that sang with the women. The song sampled the album track "I Don't Wanna Be The Last To Know" by the stellar disco/soul group Shalamar from their 1982 album Friends, which gave Kevin Spencer, William Shelby, Linda Carriere, and Nidra Beard (all from the group Dynasty) a writing credit along with producers Cory Rooney and Leshan Lewis as well as Billy Lawrence and Violet Smith. For eight writers on this, the result is a rather middle-of-the-road R&B record that would feel more in place in the earlier part of the decade alongside hits from SWV and Xscape. The music video version erased Chasez's part and in place had Natina Reed, Shamari Fears, and Brandi Williams taking turns singing, which actually I prefer on this...

"Bring It All To Me" became Blaque's second top ten pop hit in January of 2000, and it would also be their last time on the entire pop Hot 100 chart in Billboard magazine. The song also climbed to #15 on Billboard's R&B Singles chart, while topping their Rhythmic Radio format list. Internationally, the single peaked at #7 in Canada and #16 in New Zealand.

The third and final release from their self-titled debut album, "I Do", featured Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes from the group TLC. Despite it being the best of the singles from the record, the retro-sounding track stalled down at #73 on the R&B Singles chart.

Blaque recorded their next album Blaque Out in 2001, but after lead single "Can't Get It Back" featuring rapper Royce Da 5'9" stiffed down at #91 on the R&B chart, it wasn't released until years later after they were dropped by the label after the death of their mentor/manager Lisa Lopes.

Switching labels to Elektra, Blaque contributed a song to the soundtrack of the movie Honey, "I'm Good", which spent a month on the bottom levels of the R&B chart peaking at #95 in 2003. However they never ended up making an album with the label. They tried to release another album later on after reuniting, but in 2012 Reed was killed in a car accident, and Torch didn't get released until 2019.
