Songoftheday 4/28/18 - Just girl to boy I'd like to share this thought with you, our love's a joy two one's have made inseparable two...

"Will You Marry Me?" - Paula Abdul
from the album Spellbound (1991)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #19 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 8

Today's song of the day comes from dance-pop singer Paula Abdul, whose sophomore album Spellbound had already spun off four big hits in the U.S. with "Vibeology", "Blowing Kisses In The Wind", and two chart-topping successes in "Promise Of A New Day" and "Rush Rush". The fifth and final single from the record would be plucked from her real life, as the rise of "Will You Marry Me?" on the American pop chart coincided with her marriage to actor Emilio Estevez in the spring of 1992. Written by Abdul with "The Family Stand" members Sandra St. Victor, Peter Lord, and V Jeffery Smith, the sweet midtempo number brought out her genuine positive energy, and Stevie Wonder's harmonica solo was a nice touch...

"Will You Marry Me?" became Paula's fifth top-20 pop hit from Spellbound in May of 1992. The single also climbed to #17 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart. Internationally, the single went to #6 in Canada, and was a minor hit in Australia (#54), the UK (#73), and Germany (#74).
