Songoftheday 4/6/18 - Can't stand it when you're away, without a doubt you're the best thing that's happened to me...

"We Got A Love Thang" - Ce Ce Peniston
from the album Finally (1992)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #20 (three weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 11

Today's song of the day comes from singer Ce Ce Peniston, who made her debut with one of the cherished house music anthems of the early 90s, "Finally". That single reached the top ten on the American pop chart in the winter of 1992. Her second single from the album of that name would be an even more jubilant club filler, in the love declaration "We Got A Love Thang". Written by E-Smoove (aka Eric Miller), singer Chantay Savage (who would eventually have her own pop success), and Jeremiah McAllister, the song continued her reign on dance/pop radio...

"We Got A Love Thang" became CeCe's second top-40 pop hit in April of 1992. The single also rose to #38 on Billboard's R&B chart, while the remixes of the track helped it top their Dance Club Play chart for two weeks. Internationally, the song reached the top ten in Belgium (#5), the UK (#6), and the Netherlands, while making the top-40 in Ireland (#15), Canada (#26), New Zealand (#33), Sweden (#34), and Australia (#36).
