Jeffrey Osborne - "The Borderlines"
from the album Don't Stop (1984)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #38 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 2

Today's Song of the Day is by R&B singer Jeffrey Osborne, who had left the funk band L.T.D. at the beginning of the 80s to start a successful solo career with five top-40 pop singles by the end of 1984. Osborne released his third solo set, Don't Stop, at the end of the year, putting out the title track as the first single, but it stalled right under the top-40 at #44. He released "The Borderlines" as the follow-up, and the dramatic pop-styled song written by Raymond Jones brought Jeffrey back to radio...

"The Borderlines" became Osborne's sixth top-40 pop single in March of 1985, while reaching #7 on the R&B chart in Billboard magazine. The record even sneaked on to the British singles chart at #98.

Up tomorrow: a Supreme tribute to the Master of Motown.
