French Sweep: February 4, 2014...
Hey gang, it's time to cross the Atlantic yet again to check out the songs making their first appearance on the official sales chart in France this week, as Pharrell spends an eighth non-consecutive week at #1 with "Happy"...
The top debut of the week belongs to French rock band Kyo, from the northwestern Brittany region of the country with "Le Graal" ("The Holy Grail") at #42. It's my "French Pick of the Week"; they sound like they listen to a lot of Maroon 5, no?

Kyo also puts a second song on the chart as "L'equilibre" ("the Balance") is in at #44..
Experimental rock group Shaka Ponk have three debuting songs on the chart this week. First, they drop in at #70 with "Wanna Get Free". In 2012 they reached #7 with "My Name Is Stain"...
Rapper Disiz from the town of Evry enters at #73 with "Rap Genius". Back in 2000 the artist made the top ten in this country with "J'pete Les Plombs"...
French singer Benjamin Biolay comes in at #80 with "Ton Heritage" ("Your Heritage")..
The second Shaka Ponk to show up on the chart is "Scarify" at #81...(sadly, there's no clip yet)
Australian indie-rock group Boy & Bear make their way in at #82 with "Southern Sun"...
Beyonce has a late chart appearance for her single "Love On Top" from her last album at #83...
Lithuanian singer Giudre' comes in at #86 with her first, "Chut" ("Hush")...(sadly, no clip for this either)..
Electronica artist ALB, from the northern city of Reims, enters at #93 with "Whispers Under The Moonlight"...
American singer/songwriter Jason Derulo follows up his #3 hit "Talk Dirty" with "Marry Me" at #94...
The last debut of the week at #98 is the third Shaka Ponk track, "Altered Native Soul" (also with no clip)...
I'll return later with the latest in Germany....au revoir!
