"Young Hearts Run Free" was a big club hit for R&B and gospel singer Candi Staton. Appearing on her 1976 album Young Hearts Run Free, the song was written and produced by David Crawford. On Record World magazine's Disco File Top-20 chart, the whole Young Hearts Run Free album charted as one entry, with the title track, "Run To Me", and "Destiny" charted as one entry, which climbed all the way to #8 and spent over a half of a year (28 weeks) on the chart. "Young Hearts Run Free" also topped Billboard's R&B chart for a week, and went to #20 on the pop Hot 100 here. In the UK, the single peaked at #2.
