Songoftheday 5/8/16 - Red roses temptation, you make the most of a iffy situation...

"Don't Rush Me" - Taylor Dayne
from the album Tell It To My Heart (1987)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #2 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 13

Today's song of the day comes from the dance-pop singer from New York, Taylor Dayne, who had already scored a trio of top-10 hits from her debut album Tell It To My Heart with "I'll Always Love You", "Prove Your Love", and the title track. The fourth single pulled from the record was the adult pop nugget "Don't Rush Me", written by Alexandra Forbes and Jeffrey Franzel. Like her previous "I'll Always Love You", it was a departure from the dance music that got her career going, but still had enough of a funky beat to make you shake your booty a little in your seat, with a fluid bassline inspired seemingly by Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach"...

"Don't Rush Me" became the fourth top-ten hit and highest charting single from Taylor's debut album in January of 1989. The single also climbed to #3 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart, while the extended remix made it to #6 on their Dance Club Play list. Internationally, the song went top-40 in Germany (#33), but only was a minor hit in Canada (#63), Australia (#73), and the UK (#78).
