Songoftheday 5/15/16 - I knew some day you'd need to find, Something that you left behind something I can't give you...

"All This Time" - Tiffany
from the album Hold An Old Friend's Hand (1988)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #6 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 14

Today's song of the day is by then-teenager Tiffany, who had risen to fame by promoting herself in the shopping malls of America, and scored back-to-back #1 pop hits with "I Think We're Alone Now" and "Could've Been", along with a top-10 cover of the Beatles' "I Saw Her (Him) Standing There". However, as her singing success was building, her personal troubles mounted, with her manager and parents fighting over control of her career, leading Tiffany to emancipate herself in the care of her grandmother. In 1988, during this, she recorded her sophomore effort Hold An Old Friend's Hand. The first single from the set, "All This Time", was produced by George Tobin (also the manager involved in the family dispute) and written by Steven McClintock and Tim James, and was a soft-pop ballad in the vein of "Could've Been"...

"All This Time" became Tiffany's fourth (and ultimately last) top ten pop hit in the U.S. in February of 1989. The single also made it to #10 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart. The song was a top-40 hit in Ireland (#24), but missed that mark in the UK (#47).
