Rock Sweep: May 11, 2013...






Hey gang, welcome back to part two of this week's "chart sweeps" sampling the songs making it on to the weekly music charts in Billboard magazine, and this time out its the newest on rock radio...

On the aggregate Rock Airplay chart, Imagine Dragons hold out for a ninth week at #1 with "Radioactive"...

The top debut of the week is French processed-dance duo Daft Punk with their ultra-slick "Get Lucky" featuring Pharrell Williams at #46, proving their transcendental qualities in the music world...

Entering at #49 is Canadian group Walk Off The Earth with their top-10 AAA hit "Red Hands"...


Debuting at #50 is Santa Barbara, California's Beware of Darkness, with their first hit "Howl". The song moves up to #21 on the mainstream rock list...


...and now for the subgenre format charts...

On the Mainstream Rock list, Soundgarden spend a second week at #1 with "By Crooked Steps"...

Las Vegas post-hardcore band Escape The Fate score their third chart hit at #36 with "You're Insane". In 2010, they went to #23 with "Issues"...


 Alt-rockers Middle Class Rut arrive at #38 with "Aunt Betty", matching their peak of their other hit "New Low" on this chart. This is way freakish, but awesome and my "Rock Pick of the Week" (NSFW)


England's The Virginmarys debut at #39 with "Dead Man's Shoes", which also moves to #31 on the Modern Rock list...


...and at #40 is Texas southern rock group Texas Hippie Coalition with "Damn You To Hell"...(NSFW)



On the Modern Rock/Alternative radio format, the aforementioned "Radioactive" spends an eleventh week at #1....

The single debut at #37 is Jimmy Eat World with "I Will Steal You Back". They have topped this chart twice, with "The Middle" in 2001 and then again with "Pain" in 2004...



Meanwhile, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "Hipster rock") chart, Canadian singer Serena Ryder claims the #1 spot with "Stompa", while there are no debuts on the chart...

At the harder-edged Active Rock format, Soundgarden's "By Crooked Steps" racks up a second week on top with "By Crooked Steps", while the aforementioned "You're Insane" by Escape The Fate is the only new song at #36...

Finally, on the older-skewing Heritage Rock list, Shinedown race to #1 with "I'll Follow You"...

Coming in at #23 are All That Remains with "Asking Too Much"...


Right under that at #24 are the Black Veil Brides with "In The End"...


The last entry at #25 is Kid Rock with "Rebel Soul"...Whatever, Robert.
