Joan Jett & The Blackhearts - "Fake Friends"
from the album Album (1983)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #35 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 4

Today's song of the day is by grrrl rocker supreme Joan Jett, who blastest into the homes of America with her 1982 #1 smash "I Love Rock & Roll", then followed it with her top-10 cover of the Shondells' classic "Crimson & Clover". After she re-released her earlier hit "Do You Wanna Touch Me", that also made the top-20 in 1982.

After such a fruitful year, Jett the and Blackhearts finally finished their next album, simply titled Album, and released it in 1983 with the lead-off single "Fake Friends", written by Jett with producer Kenny Laguna...

"Fake Friends" turned into Joan's fourth top-40 hit, as well as reached the top-20 on the rock radio chart. It also was a minor hit in Australia.
