Today's song of the day comes from actress and singer Brandy, whose debut album had already landed three top-40 pop hits with "I Wanna Be Down", "Baby", and "Best Friend", with the latter one slipping into the top-40 in the summer of 1995. The fourth release from the record would be the lost love ballad "Brokenhearted". Written by producer Keith Crouch along with Kipper Jones, the track featured uncredited vocals by Wanya Morris of Boyz II Men, who she dated for a time, though eventually he would break off the relationship when she was 18...
"Brokenhearted" did way better than her previous single, landing her back into the pop and R&B top ten (R&B #2) in October of 1995. Internationally, the song went to #6 in New Zealand.
