Today's song of the day comes from singer/actress Brandy Norwood, whose debut album Brandy had already scored a pair of top ten pop hits with "I Wanna Be Down" and "Baby". The third single released from the record would be the mid-tempo jam "Best Friend". Written by producer Keith Crouch with Glenn McKinney, the jazz-soul number is perhaps the most enjoyable if understated of the songs sent to radio...
"Best Friend" became Brandy's third top-40 pop hit in America in July of 1995. The song did much better on urban radio, peaking at #7 on Billboard magazine's R&B chart. Internationally, the song just missed the top ten in New Zealand, stopping at #11.
