Robbed hit of the week 11/25/19 - Madonna's "Human Nature"...
"Human Nature" - Madonna
from the album Bedtime Stories (1994)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #46
This week's "robbed hit" comes from Madonna, who broke her streak of top-40 pop hits in America with her criminally overlooked gem "Bedtime Story" in the spring of 1995. That it came right after the biggest hit of her career, "Take A Bow", was even more surprising. Nevertheless, a fourth single was released from the album, the funky swagger of "Human Nature". Written as a putdown to her critics by the singer with producer Dave Hall, the song again sported a music video that was a must-watch for its latex-clad dance moves to the most "urban" production she's ever done...
While "Human Nature" also missed the top-40, peaking right above the halfway mark on the Hot 100 in July of 1995, it spent over double the amount of time on the chart than "Bedtime Story" did. The song also climbed to #57 on Billboard's R&B chart, her most recent showing there. On their Dance Club Play list, the remixes of the song failed to top the chart but spent four weeks at #2, which is pretty respectable. Internationally, the single was able to reach the top ten in Finland (#7), the UK (#8), and Italy (#10), and made the top-40 in Australia (#17), Switzerland (#17), the Netherlands (#19), Poland (#19), Ireland (#21), Iceland (#28), and New Zealand (#37).

Here's the "Human Club Remix" that helped the song spend a month at #2 on the dance chart...
Madonna first performed "Human Nature" live on her Drowned World Tour in 2001...
She also brought it out for her Sticky And Sweet shows in 2008...
Madonna went for some mirror play on her MDMA tour in 2012...
And finally, here's Madge going all over Drake at Coachella in 2015...
