Songoftheday 11/21/19 - You don't appreciate the time I put into this love affair of ours, baby...
"You Used To Love Me" - Faith Evans
from the album Faith (1995)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #24 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 12
Today's song of the day comes from R&B singer Faith Evans, who was born in Florida but raised in New Jersey, where she eventually was discovered by Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs, who signed her on to his Bad Boy label. There she met and quickly married rapper Christopher Wallace, aka the Notorious B.I.G., who was on the same label in the summer of 1994. She sang backup on his records as well as those for Mary J. Blige and Usher before working on her own debut record which would be released in the the late summer of the following year. But by that time, Biggie and Faith were already having marital problems, which inspired the first single from the record, "You Used To Love Me". Written by Evans and produced by Chucky Thompson, the bitter song accompanied the singer confronting the unfaithful rapper...
"You Used To Love Me" became Faith's first top-40 pop hit in August of 1995. The song rose to #4 on Billboard's R&B chart as well. Internationally, the song just missed the top-40 in the UK at #42.

Here's Faith appearing live at Showtime At The Apollo...

And lastly, the Puff Daddy remix which sounded completely different from the original...
Up tomorrow: R&B trio are doing pretty well.
