"Up All Night" - Slaughter
from the album Stick It To Ya (1990)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #27 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 6
Today's song of the day comes from the hard rock/metal band Slaughter, who were named for its lead singer and guitarist Mark's surname. Mark started the group with bass player Dana Strum in Las Vegas. Both were in former Kiss member Vinnie Vincent's band the Invasion, and brought in Tim Kelly and Blas Elias in the late 1980's. They released their debut album Stick It To Ya in 1988, and the first single was a thumping party anthem, "Up All Night". Written and produced by Slaughter and Strum, it filled a lot of high school new driver cassette decks at the beginning of the new decade...
"Up All Night" became Slaughter's first top-40 pop hit in June of 1990. The single also climbed to #21 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock radio chart. Over in the UK, the track was a minor hit at #62.
