Robbed hit of the week 4/3/17 - The Cover Girls' "All That Glitters Isn't Gold"...

"All That Glitters Isn't Gold" - The Cover Girls
from the album We Can't Go Wrong (1989)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #49

This week's "robbed hit" comes from the freestyle dance music trio the Cover Girls, whose sophomore album We Can't Go Wrong scored the group their first top ten pop hit with the title track, along with the club banger "My Heart Skips A Beat" which also reached the American top-40.  But during that time, lead singer Angel Clivilles departed and was replaced by Evelyn Escalera. Angel's final single with them at the time was the bubbly "All That Glitters Isn't Gold", written by David Cole (of the C+C Music Factory and production partner of Angel's husband-at-the-time Rob)...

While "All That Glitters Isn't Gold" was a moderately successful club hit, peaking at #18 on Billboard's Dance Club Play chart, the single stopped just around the halfway mark on their Hot 100 pop list in May of 1990.
