Songoftheday 4/3/17 - You know I can never do things that you want me to, the way I appear to you may not be true to you...
"Nicety" - Michel'le
from the album Michel'le (1989)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #29 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 5
Today's song of the day belongs to R&B singer Michel'le, whose squeaky baby-like talking voice belied a powerful singing tone, and put to good use with her breakthrough single "No More Lies" in the spring of 1990. The second single from her debut album, written by the singer with husband Dr. Dre of N.W.A. fame, was the sassy "Nicety". Using the obscure funk track "Action" by Orange Crush as a base for the song and a rap cameo from Dre, the track got love from soul and mainstream radio.
"Nicety" became Michel'le's second top-40 hit in June of 1990. The single also climbed all the way to #5 on Billboard's R&B chart.
