twostepcubchart's Best of 2014: Part One - #100 to #91...
I cannot believe it's already time to start this year's rundown of the top 100 tunes of the year from my weekly blog. Where on earth did 2014 go? Well I tallied up all the numbers by rank each week and these are the songs that went the highest and/or stuck around the longest. And each weekday until New Years Eve (except Christmas) I'll bring out ten more until we get to the top. And away we go....
#100 - "I Got U" - Duke Dumont featuring Jax Jones
from the album EP1
Highest Rank: 17 (two weeks)
Weeks on the chart: 16
2014 was the year neo-house broke through in a big way, and I couldn't be more happier, as my garage-music days of the 90s finally made the tetro train. British DJ Adam Dyment, aka Duke Dumont, followed up his Grammy-nominated classic "Need U (100%)" from last year with this rework of Whitney Houston's "My Love Is Your Love" over breezy steel drums to make you feel like you're at the beach.

Is the new big-voiced diva turning into an uncontrollable nutjob? Is her over-the-top brother (Frankie from Big Brother) influencing her? What of her seemingly incongruous relationship with rapper Big Sean, of the "Dance A$$" fame? A third tier hookup under Beyonce/Jay-Z and Kanye Kardashian? Next year may tell. Until then this blippy dance number paired her with the Russo-German producer wunderkid who had the #3 song on my chart last year with "Clarity".
Well, that's it for the first part of my look back from last year...I'll be back tomorrow with and out and proud singer/songwriter, a couple of country crossover champs, a featured Brit comes out on her own, and more.
