Robbed hit of the week 12/15/14 - John Eddie's "Jungle Boy"...
John Eddie - "Jungle Boy"
from the album John Eddie (1986)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #52
This week's 'robbed hit' comes from rock singer John Eddie, who was born in Virginia but has always been associated with New Jersey, where he moved in his twenties. A fixture on the bar circuit with his band the Front Street Runners, Eddie opened for the likes of Springsteen back in the day. He got his own break in the mid-80s being signed to Columbia Records (Springsteen's label), releasing his debut album in 1986. With members of the E Street Band subbing in for Eddie's own, his first single, "Jungle Boy", was a big local hit here in the tri-state area...
"Jungle Boy" went to #17 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock radio chart, but stalled out on the pop list at #52. It would be his only national hit, but he continues to perform and his local fanbase remains strong.

The other local faves the Hooters, Eddie got national attention performing at the Amnesty International concert in 1986. Here's two songs from the show...
...and from a more recent stint in AC in 2013...
