Songoftheday 12/11/14 - I can't believe the things that happen to me, I guess that I should have seen a long long time ago...
The Outfield - "All The Love In The World"
from the album Play Deep (1985)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #19 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 7
Today's Song of the Day comes from the Outfield, a British rock band that sounded as American as their baseball-inspired name, and who had broke through on pop radio in the spring of 1986 with the top-10 "Your Love". Their next single, "All The Love In The World", was again written by guitarist John Spinks and had the straight-ahead rock sound most British bands avoided like the plague...
"All The Love In The World" became the Outfield's second top-40 pop hit in August of 1986, while climbing to #14 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock radio chart. But again, in their native England, the single only nicked the chart at #96.
Up tomorrow: a British duo goes out to nirvana's border.
