Songoftheday 12/8/14 - I see your face at the movies I hear your voice on the radio, you're making love on the silver screen...
Journey - "Suzanne"
from the album Raised On Radio (1986)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #17 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 7
Today's Song of the Day comes from the arena-rock band Journey, who by 1986 was pretty much whittled down to the core of lead singer Steve Perry, guitarist Neal Schon and keyboardist Jonathan Cain. With future American Idol judge Randy Jackson replacing former bassist Ross Valory for the recording of the band's Raised On Radio sessions, they scored a top-10 pop hit with "Be Good To Yourself". The second single, "Suzanne", was written by Perry and Cain, and seems to be directed towards a famous woman (Pleschette?)...
"Suzanne" become the second top-20 hit from Raised On Radio for the band in August of 1986, while climbing to #11 on the Mainstream Rock radio chart in Billboard magazine. Across the border in Canada the record was only a minor hit at #87, and since the song is probably one of their lesser-remembered hits.
