Songoftheday 5/1/16 - In the warm glow of the candlelight, Oh I wonder what you're gonna do to me...

"In Your Room" - Bangles
from the album Everything (1988)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #5 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 12

Today's song of the day comes from the all-female rock band the Bangles, who had come off their very successful sophomore album Different Light with a #2 soundtrack hit in their cover of Simon & Garfunkel's "Hazy Shade Of Winter" in the winter of 1988. Later that year, the group recorded their third release Everything, which featured the first single "In Your Room". The upbeat jangle-pop nugget again had Susannah Hoffs, who co-wrote the track with song doctors Tom Kelly and Billy Steinberg, on lead vocals, and just a touch of musical patchouli sprinkled in...

"In Your Room" became the Bangles' fourth top-ten pop hit in the U.S. in January of 1989. The single also climbed to #5 on Billboard's Modern Rock radio chart. Internationally, the song made the top-40 in the UK (#35), Ireland (#25), and New Zealand (#11), and just missed in Australia (#41).
